loveliest of trees

I stopped in for a visit with my Grandpa this evening but ended up visiting longer with the Cherry Tree in his front yard. I'm not sure, given all our recent bouts with snow and cold, how these little buggers felt safe coming out of hiding but I'm sure glad they did. For once we actually had winter in Seattle which makes spring all that much more welcome.

Loveliest of trees, the cherry now
Is hung with bloom along the bough,
And stands about the woodland ride,
Wearing white for Eastertide.

Now, of my threescore years and ten,
Twenty will not come again,
And take from seventy springs a score,
It only leaves me fifty more.

And since to look at things in bloom
Fifty springs are little room,
About the woodlands I will go
To see the cherry hung with snow.
